Sony unveils new DualSense controller for PlayStation 5

Sony has presented the controller of the PlayStation 5 on its website : the DualSense. Among other things, the controller has a new design and a built-in microphone.

Sony chooses to provide the new controller in two colors. The DualSense is black with white and is reminiscent of the PSVR, the virtual reality glasses of the PlayStation 4. The part with the analog sticks is black and the same applies to the triggers on the back. The controller is white at the handles and knobs. Two streaks of light are placed next to the buttons that color in with what is happening in the game.

The DualSense features haptic feedback, which replaces the vibration function of previous DualShock controllers. This technique should better translate the feel of the game to the player's hands. For example, different types of surfaces must be distinguishable via vibrations when the player drives over them with a race car, Sony writes. Also, the resistance of the triggers on the back can be adjusted depending on what you do in the game. For example, according to Sony, the tension of shooting with bow and arrow should be felt. Furthermore, the controller on the back has a USB-C connection with which it can be charged. The controller also contains microphones, so people can talk to other players without using a headset.

The 'Share' button has also disappeared. It has been replaced by another button called Create. This would offer approximately the same functions, but Sony will announce more about this later.

The PlayStation 5 itself has not yet been revealed. The design of the new game console from Sony is therefore not yet known, although the company has announced technical details in recent months. The PlayStation 5 should be on the market at the end of this year.
